Immediate dentures are full or partial denture appliances that are created and given to you at the same time your damaged natural teeth have been extracted. When you come to the Milton Denture Clinic for an extraction, we will make a mold of your mouth before the extraction occurs, and immediately create a pair of dentures you will take with you when you leave the clinic.
Pros and Cons of Immediate Dentures
The most apparent advantage of immediate dentures is that you don’t have to spend any time without teeth after the extraction. This means that your lifestyle will be altered very little and it will allow you to feel more confident with your new smile. One of the main disadvantages of immediate dentures is that because the molds are taken when there are remaining natural teeth and applied immediately after the extraction, the resulting fit can be unpredictable. Once the swelling has gone down a few days after the extraction, it is possible that your immediate dentures might not fit as snuggly as traditional appliances.
